Our story starts in 2013 right after I married the greatest man and father to our first beautiful little boy I will ever know 🙂 Shortly after we took a trip where my sister brought along her schmancy soft structured carrier (SSC)... and we instantly fell in love. My son was just over 1 year old and hitting the 30 pound mark. Carrying him in the Meh Dai for longer than 15 minutes was no longer an option that my body liked to acknowledge. And there was no way I was going back to my Meh Dai after trying SSC.

From there, I let my creative juices flow. I started to map out my own design - keeping in mind that my husband liked wearing our son but the patterns weren't for him. I made him a carrier from an old uniform he wore in Afghanistan. He calls it the prototype, and that's exactly what it was. To me, there were some very obvious improvements, but alas, he won't let me deconstruct and fix it. He says he loves it just the way it is. 🙂 Such a sweet man.

There are many joys that comes with being a military wife, but we can’t deny that deployments are hard! Holding down the fort while tending to your little one is a full-time job in itself. You want to be close to your baby when calling out for your attention, yet life’s every day tasks are calling as well. Getting ready in the morning, cleaning, and getting groceries still need to happen.

Then in 2016, our happy family of 3 grew a plus-one. My husband deployed one month before our second son was born, so I was thrown into the single married parent life. Grocery shopping, school drop-offs, and even vacuuming with 2 under 2 became much harder than it needed to be. There had to be a solution — enter tandem carry.

Tandem carriers had been around, but none of the options fit our family: they didn’t offer the versatility we needed. With traditional tandem carry you’re limited with options and is a short term solution. The innovation to tandem carry between two different style carriers was the brainchild of Naked Panda Designs.
